Directors Welcome Message

Dear students,

we welcome you to the Postgraduate Programme (MSc) "Stress Science and Health Promotion", of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). Our program has been operating for more than 14 consecutive years and we have the honor and pleasure to count already more than 250 graduates in a program that has received more than 900 applications for admission.

The overall aim of our students training is to contribute to the systematic development of a highly qualified human resource force in the field of stress science and health promotion. We hope that our graduates, as professionals, will become competent in their field, effectively working with individuals and groups to ameliorate distress effects, and utilize their knowledge and skills for the benefit of the entire population, especially in the context of a prolonged period of economic and social challenges, but also during facing specific global challenges such as the recent pandemic, which has brought significant stress and has undoubtedly had a high impact on the health and wellbeing of the entire population. Contemporary society is plagued by the so-called “chronic non-communicable diseases” (CNCDs), which include many behavioral and somatic disorders, related to stress. The program provides state-of-the-art training towards deep understanding of the stress system and stress related disorders and conditions combined with health promotion tools for the development of effective approaches and programs both at the clinical and at the community settings. Furthermore, our students become familiar with conducting original research and the program fosters scientific communication through a step-by-step and hands-on education on writing original research manuscripts, review articles and systematic reviews.
