Leaning Objectives

 

The MSc "Stress Science and Health Promotion" provides a rich understanding of the stress system and stress related concepts as well as practical skills and real-life experience of designing and delivering health promotion programmes. Students will become competent in their field, effectively working both with individuals and groups to ameliorate distress effects, prevent stress related problems, and diseases, and to enhance their health and overall sense of well-being, through health promotion.

 

Learning objectives:

Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:

  • Describe and explain the psychoneuro/(immuno)endocrine mechanisms linking the stress system with health and disease, in the context of their daily professional practice.
  • Select and apply the appropriate scientific methodology to conduct basic and clinical biological research in the field of stress and health promotion.
  • Apply scientifically appropriate methods of stress coping in the context of their daily professional practice.
  • Autonomously design, implement and evaluate health promotion programs, at all levels of prevention.
  • Evaluate and critically study contemporary scientific literature and publish original research papers

Program Curriculum

MSc Program Structure


The 1st Semester consists of 5 taught Courses.

  1. Phsyconeuroendocrinology of stress – 8 ECTS

  2. Basic principles of stress science- 8 ECTS

  3. Basic principles of statistics -4 ECTS

  4. Research methodology in health 4-ECTS

  5. Health promotion principles, goals and planning -6 ECTS

1ST Semester total ECTS = 30

 

The 2st Semester consists of 5 taught Courses.

  1. Scientific writing - 6 ECTS

  2. Οccupational stress - 4 ECTS

  3. Stress and lifestyle- stress and nosology - 7ECTS

  4. Stress and community -5 ECTS

  5. The science of stress management -8 ECTS

 2nd Semester total ECTS = 30

 

3rd and 4th Semester

During the second year, MSc students undertake a 1-year internship (2 semesters) and develop a dissertation thesis project, under the supervision of a a three-member Examination Committee. The Committee will be responsible for monitoring students’ progress during their MSc Dissertation Thesis.

Internship -15 ECTS per semester

Thesis dissertation -15 ECTS per semester

Total ECTS for 3rd and 4th semester = 60 ECTS
